Beauty and richness of marine life reputes the promontory of Portofino as a unique oasis in the Mediterranean.
Stretching out into the Ligurian Sea, a broad and unusually shaped coastline intercepts currents and favors ample concentration of nutrients. Marvelous coves and atypical rock conglomerates offer thousands of species an ideal environment to live and reproduce.
Few places in the Mediterranean can boast such a spectacular concentration of life forms, and to preserve these treasures the area has been designated a Marine Park.
Beginners and experienced divers alike can enjoy more than 20 diverse dive spots featuring reefs, walls and shipwrecks.
Portofino is an all-year-round diving location
with almost tropical conditions during summer
Depending on the season, water temperature hovers between 12-14°C December through March and 24-26 °C during July-September, enabling you to enjoy a wonderful diving experience in calm seas with little wind. At times, though, you might experience variable conditions, but diving is still going to be memorable. Dry suits are recommended from November to April and for summer months deep diving to handle thermocline around 30 m.
Visibility is affected by a number of factors and can vary considerably. Therefore, rather than making definitive statements, we assume that most likely you are exposed to clear waters with a 15-25 m visibility range, with high chances of 30 m plus visibility in the summer and less than 10 m in the winter. No matter what end of visibility range you happen to find yourself at, the experience will be rewarding.
